News through the viewfinder: Ugly in the East End

Queen Mary’s Lock-Keeper’s Cottage has been voted number five in the top ten ugliest buildings in the country. The article by John Rentoul in the Independent exposes the nations dislike of the postgraduate building, placing slightly below Preston Bus Station and the South Bank Centre.

The Lock-Keeper’s Cottage was awarded a RIBA Award in 2006. This prestigious accolade is presented to buildings that have high architectural standards and make a substantial contribution to the local environment.
